Pataka Kai

Pataka Kai has now been in operation for over 12-months as a result of the partnership with Aotearoa Fisheries Ltd (AFL). Pataka Kai involves the supply of around $400 worth of kaimoana as a koha from AFL subsidiary Moana Pacific in Tauranga.

Pataka Kai is only available for tangihanga and special hui. Special hui covers events such as the opening of a Tuhoe meeting house and hui-a-iwi. Hura kohatu and huri tau do not qualify for Pataka Kai through AFL.

Trustees Janet McLean and Celia Soloman administer the Pataka Kai arrangement with AFL on the Trust's behalf. Please contact one of the Trustees directly or through the Guardian Trust office in Rotorua.

Tutara Kauika is working on setting up a freezer storage unit in Rotorua as a collection point for Pataka Kai. In the meantime, however, Pataka Kai orders must be collected during office hours Monday to Friday from the Moana Pacific factory in Tauranga or courier arranged at cost to the whanau.
