Coastline Agreement

Tutara Kauika will soon enter into discussions with neighbouring iwi to reach formal agreement about coastline boundaries, following some preliminary discussions between Tuhoe Fish Quota Ltd and Te Runanga o Ngati Awa.

Te Ohu Kai Moana is still holding a significant amount of quota until coastal agreements have been reached between iwi. While an indicative coastal length for Tuhoe and other Iwi is set out in He Kawai Amokura, Te Ohu Kai Moana will not release the remaining quota until iwi have agreed a physical point on the coastline, within with Tuhoe coastline interests reside.

Two Tutara Kauika trustees and the three Tuhoe Negotiators will participate in the negotiations. We will keep members posted on the outcome of the discussions.
